This collection is dedicated to the anniversary of the outstanding Soviet and Russian historian and art critic A.G. Melnik. It contains articles on the history of Russia of the XV-XVIII centuries, the history of art and architecture, source studies. A number of articles are concerned with the problems of restoration of works of medieval painting and architecture that are significant for modern medievalism. Much attention is paid to the problems of attribution and iconography, against a wide comparative background of the work of Russian art of the late Middle Ages and the beginning of the new time, they are compared with European and late -in -law monuments. The significant section of the collection is devoted to the study of the monuments of hagiography and the history of ancient Russian holiness. For the first time in historiography, the issues of traditional rites that took place at the weddings of the Polish-Lithuanian nobility and in Rus" are considered. As a special problem, the question of the number of the Russian army is posed and the background of the dynastic crisis of the Troubles of the era is studied.
