The book of the famous Pskov historian of literature, literary critic and writer E. A. Mayina included three central monographs in his scientific heritage, dedicated to the problems of the history and theory of Russian romanticism, Russian philosophical lyrics and the creative path of L. N. Tolstoy.
In the section "Memoirs", the essays of E. A. Mayina, dedicated to his teachers, B. M. Eichenbaum and B. V. Tomashevsky, wonderful people of Pskov by N. N. Kolibersky and L. N. Cottish, as well as also To a famous ancient man - L. A. Dmitriev, friendship with which the author passed through her entire life. In the section "Correspondence", along with the letters of E. A. Mayina, letters are published for the first time that his friends and colleagues, D. S. Likhachev, D. E. Maximov, N. Ya. Mandelstam, A. wrote him in different years. V. Chicherin, L. A.
