Lev Nikolaevich Tolstoy (1828-1910) is better known as a writer than as a teacher. Meanwhile, the pedagogical heritage of Tolstoy is not only extensive, but also valuable. Despite the overwhelming technical progress and aspiration to the future, humanity needs constant reconciliation of the educational process by ideas developed by the great humanists of the past.
This collection includes the works of Tolstoy of different years devoted to pedagogy, especially its humanistic and moral component: a philosophical and pedagogical treatise "about life", banned and destroyed immediately after the publication, a description of the experience of the Yasnopolian school, theoretical and methodological articles , letters. In these works, everything is warmed by love for a person and a sense of respect for the child. They are filled with concern for the good of the younger generation and thoughts about the future happiness of mankind
