Arthur Schopenhauer is a German philosopher -irrationalist, a bright representative of the post -classical philosophy of the 19th century. The teachings of Schopenhauer are often called "pessimistic philosophy." He considered the human life meaningless, and the existing world is the worst of the possible worlds. The world in Schopenhauer is a "arena, strewn with coals" through which a person has to go. The driving force of everything is the will to life, which generates desires. But even if the desires are satisfied, a person is not able to experience happiness, instead, satiety and boredom are waiting for him, and then new desires and suffering. The present edition contains the most significant and popular works of the philosopher: "Peace as will and representation", "aphorisms of worldly wisdom" and "erystic, or the art of winning disputes." Philosophical treatises perfectly reflect the philosophical position of the author and give the reader the opportunity to evaluate the creative heritage of Schopenhauer
