Arseny Metropolitan: Diary 1903-1905. Volume 3

In continuation of a multi-volume edition of the Diary of the Metropolitan Arseny (Stadnitsky), one of the largest Russian hierarchs of the first half of the 20th century, covering the period from 1880 to 1917, the third volume of the diary for 1903-1905 is devoted to the end of the ministry of the Bishop of Arsenia as the rector of the Moscow Spiritual Academy and Vicarka Bishop of the Moscow Diocese and the beginning of his ministry as the ruling bishop of the Pskov Diocese. The diary was reflected the most important events of the socio-political and church life in Russia of this time: the Russian-Japanese war of 1904-1905, which began the first Russian revolution of 1905-1907, discussion in the ruling circles and in the public issues of the church management reform and the convening Cathedral. Considerable attention by the author of the diary paid the problems of spiritual education. The diary makes it possible to reader not only to get acquainted deeper with the history of the Russian Orthodox Church of the beginning of the 20th century, but also it is better to understand the historical processes that occurred in Russia during this period as a whole
