This anthology includes memories of A. P. Chekhov and his circle, belonging to the writer's relatives - his brother, sister, nephews, as well as memoirs about the Chekhov family. Many of Chekhov's contemporaries left memories of him: writers, actors, artists. The heroes of this book, besides A. P. Chekhov himself, are V. A. Gilyarovsky, V. G. Korolenko, P. I. Tchaikovsky, A. N. Pleshcheev, N. S. Leskov, I. I. Levitan, and many others. Reading these memories leaves a remarkable sense of connection to the Chekhovian world, bringing the long-gone era closer.
