The book is the seventeenth volume in a series dedicated to the White Movement in Russia, covering the military actions of the armed forces in the South of Russia in the first half of 1919, from their inception to the publication of A.I. Denikin's so-called 'Moscow Directive'.
This was a time when the Whites completed the liberation of the Northern Caucasus from the Bolsheviks, cleared Crimea of them, began moving towards Tsaritsyn and Astrakhan, and held onto the Donbass. In the spring, the Whites launched offensives on all fronts, creating a strategic situation that allowed the Armed Forces of South Russia to begin their campaign towards Moscow.
The book is accompanied by extensive and previously unpublished commentary, including several hundred unknown biographical notes about the authors and heroes of the essays.
Compiled by S.V. Volkov.
