The history of the invention, production and use of Portland cement is presented. The physico-chemical foundations of its hydration hardening, the formation of the structure and properties of cement concrete are given. The decisive role in the hydration process of superficial phenomena, leading to the stadium formation, development and decay of the activated complex, is shown. Individual aspects of the morphology of microbon, the presence on the hydrated surface of cement grains of residual surface-active zones are clarified. Elements of activated hardening of concrete with increased operational reliability are formulated and tested in production conditions.
