This publication is a continuation of the series of books conceived by the Spanish architecture in separate eras, styles and directions. The Romanesque style occupies a special and extremely important place in the history of Spanish architecture, probably it is represented by the largest number of monuments throughout Europe. In geographically, the study mainly affects old Castile, Leon, Asia, Galicia and Cantabria with small additions to Estremadur and Aragon. Chronologically-from the beginning of the XII century until about 1212-the year of the decisive battle of the reconcists at Las Navas de Tolos, who almost coincided with the time the Gothic appeared in Spain. The publication contains an extensive historical, cultural and art history section, including the typological classification of church buildings according to the volume-planning composition, facade schemes and decorative design, as well as a separate chapter in the Mosarabian architectural direction.
