The work of Matvey Fedorovich Kazakov largely determined the appearance of Moscow of the era of classicism. The largest public structures of the second half of the 18th century - the Senate in the Moscow Kremlin, Moscow University, the house of the noble assembly, the Golitsyn and Pavlovsk hospitals - were created according to the projects of Kazakov. He is also the author of the best houses-soldiers of the noble urban estates of pre-Po-fired Moscow, which have been distinguished by a solemn appearance and magnificent interior decoration. The courage of the creative fantasy of the architect manifested itself in the romantic appearance of the Gothic architecture of the Petrovsky access and Tsaritsyn palaces.
Kazakov’s creative heritage includes a significant amount of architectural graphics. In addition to the talent of the architect, he possessed a brilliant gift of a drawer, who left us beautiful samples of graphic art.
