The book convincingly combines the theory of architecture and the practice of its interpretation. The main concepts of modern architectural studies are discussed and the possibilities of applying certain theoretical provisions in the analysis of specific buildings belonging to the main eras of the history of art are discussed. Particular attention is paid to the psychological and social contexts of architectural creativity. As an application, some fundamental texts are given, partly first published in Russian and quite fully reproducing the main methods of interpretation of architecture. It can be recommended for both the art students as a textbook, and for the widest circle of readers who are interested in the history of art, culture and problems of humanitarian knowledge as such
