Kalanchev’s overpass in Moscow is a unique work of the largest Russian architect of the first half of the 20th century Alexei Viktorovich Shchusev (1873–1949) By the time of the October Revolution of 1917, he built dozens of structures scattered throughout the Russian Empire, but only two architectural ensembles of that period were preserved in Moscow-the Marfo-Mariinsky monastery and the complex of structures of the Kazan station. Kalanchev’s overpass was created as part of a single ensemble with the Kazan station, an object of cultural heritage of federal significance. At the same time, the construction of the overpass was an important milestone in the history of the formation of the beautiful Square of Moscow - Komsomolskaya (previously Kalanchevskaya), one of the few who retained ensemble development.
