Andrea Palladio (1508–1580) is one of the key figures of the Italian Renaissance, architect, theorist and expert on ancient architecture. Having passed the path from the ordinary stoves to the architect, he combined strong craft skills and high cultural aspirations of the North Italian fans of ancient classics, in the circle of which the humanists of J. Trissino and D. Barbaro were introduced. The most famous are the designed by him in Vicenza Almerico Kapra La Rotonda, Basilica Palladian, Olympico Theater, San Jordio Maggozhore Cathedral in Venice.
Thanks to students and followers, its creative principles and experience had a radical influence on the fate of world architecture. Palladianism is a special direction of European classicism of subsequent centuries, the base for which was a treatise “Four Books on Architecture”, first published in Venice in 1570. Having undergone numerous reprints and translations into foreign languages, this classical essay retains its significance today, serving not only the literary document of the 16th century, but also a model of high architectural culture
