The book represents the original methodically built author’s work, giving an exhaustive idea of color phenomenon as a phenomenon of world artistic culture. The authors consider the multifaceted role of color in creating a comfortable, artistically expressive architectural environment of the city. The experience of the coloristic reconstruction of the cities of the world at the end of the 20th century made it possible to formulate the concept of a functionally substantiated, informative, aesthetically full-fledged colorful environment of the city and propose a methodology for its design. The content and sequence of the design stages of the formation of the city’s coloring are presented, the color solutions of specific fragments of the architectural environment were analyzed.
The concept of "coloristic culture" is proposed in connection with the origin of the science of color that allows you to develop methods of color harmonization and coloristic form formation in plastic arts and architectural creativity. On the example of world artistic movements of the 20th - early 21st centuries, the movement towards artistic abstraction in painting and then in sculpture, which became the basis of architectural form formation, is traced. For the first time, the influence of the sequence of world artistic movements on the appearance, development and transformation of various stylistic directions of architecture is revealed.
