The album "Aleksandrovsky Palace in Tsarskoye Selo and the Romanovs" presents the reader with a wonderful monument of Russian history and architecture. The romantic, elegant luxury of the ceremonial Catherine Palace in the ensemble of Tsarskoye village, the Alexander Palace occupied a special place in the life of many generations of the imperial dynasty, from Catherine the Great to the family of Nicholas II. In this residence, the heirs of the throne traditionally spent a honeymoon, royal children rested in the summer, and in the twentieth century a cozy palace on the shore of a quiet pond was destined to become the last family house of the Romanovs. After the revolution, the Aleksandrovsky Palace was turned into a museum, but was badly damaged during the Patriotic War, and only today after a long scientific restoration, he again opens the door to visitors.
The story of the two hundred years of the history of the Alexander Palace illustrates archival photographs and ceremonial portraits, drawings of court artists and members of the imperial family, pictures of household items preserved to this day, documents and decorated the palace of works of art. The album publishes rare auto chroma - unique pictures obtained according to one of the world"s first technologies of color photography and captured the interiors of the palace in 1917 as they were with the last crowned owners, as well as photographs of pre -war museum exposition.
