This book is for everyone who, without having special mathematical education, wants to know how to apply optimization methods to solve practical tasks. It addresses the problems of optimization from various fields of activity: Economics, Finance, Technique, Design, Construction, etc., the theoretical foundations of optimization methods (linear, nonlinear and dynamic programming) are presented. In the "Dynamic Programming" section, some established stereotypes and conclusions are refuted, for a wide range of tasks a new method Dynamic programming on sets of Pareto is proposed.
For each of the three sections, control questions and tasks are given, on most of them are answers and solutions in applications. Information about five training computer programs specifically designed to study optimization methods are given. The mathematical apparatus used is minimized and is explained in the text, which provides an understanding of the optimization methods in the presence of mathematical training in the scope of the program of a conventional technical university, and in order to understand the basic ideas of dynamic programming, knowledge in the amount of high school.
The book is based on the author"s lectures at the Cybernetics Institute of the Moscow Technological University (MIREA) and practical experience in the development of algorithms and programs for solving the problems of large dimension within the CAD.
The book can be useful to students and graduate students studying optimization methods, as well as specialists encountered with the problems of finding optimal solutions in various fields of activity
