Archbishop of Averky (Taushev) (1906-1976) is one of the greatest church figures of Russian abroad. He taught at the Holy Trinity Theological Seminary in Jordanville, the USA (the Russian Orthodox Church abroad), and then for almost a quarter century was its permanent rector.
The work of Archbishop Averkia (Tausheva) “Apostle. The guide to study the Holy Scriptures of the New Testament ”was born as a course of lectures for seminarians and became a classic manual for the study of the acts of the Holy Apostles, the apostolic messages and the revelation of the Holy Apostle John the Theologian. The author’s approach is distinguished by balanced and churchness: the author relies mainly on the traditional patristic interpretation of the Holy Scriptures.
In this publication, quotes from the Holy Scripture are reinstalled by the synodal translation, which became canonical in the Orthodox tradition
