In your hands is a poignant narrative about life, written by Mikhail Sergeevich Shkabardney - the patriarch of Soviet industry, Hero of Socialist Labor, laureate of the State Prize of the USSR, Doctor of Technical Sciences, and Professor. It is not only a story about a boy from a poor Cossack family in Kuban, who, despite the trials of the 1930s, wartime, and post-war period, thanks to his thirst for knowledge, honest work, and abilities, rose to the heights of executive power in the country - becoming the Minister of Instrument Making, Automation Means, and Control Systems of the USSR, and later the Chief of Staff of the Council of Ministers of the USSR, a member of the Presidium of the Soviet Government. It is also a tale of the author's beloved small homeland - the native village of Tbilisskaya, in the Krasnodar region. It reflects on the fate of the "great homeland" - the Soviet Union, Russia, and offers broad philosophical reflections based on the events of the past decades. Some of the stories have been previously published in his earlier books.

This book includes illustrations provided by the artist Nadezhda May (Shkabardnya), a member of the International Art Fund, for which the author expresses sincere gratitude.

Special thanks to my daughter Alla Mikhaylovna Ishchenko, a member of the Writers' Union of the Russian Federation, and to my grandchildren - Mikhail and Alexander Ishchenko - for their invaluable help in preparing the manuscript and publishing this book.
