In his book, an outstanding historian of an ancient world, Professor Solomon Yakovlevich Lurie (1891 - 1964) analyzes the reasons for the unfavorable attitude towards the Jews in antiquity. The book was first published in 1922, and since then, its text has repeatedly reissued unchanged. Meanwhile, in 1923, Lurie prepared a new edition, which now first becomes available to readers. The author significantly reworked the book by making numerous corrections and increasing the volume of almost a quarter. The present edition was based on a unique copy of Lurie"s book with copyright, which is kept in the St. Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The publication is equipped with comments and applications containing Louri"s polemical correspondence with the Father, in which the subject is then discussed by just a conceived study, as well as three reviews published in Russia and Germany.
