Valentin Arnoldovich Tomberg, a native of St. Petersburg, came to Tallinn at the age of 22, where he lived throughout the 1920s and most of the 1930s. In Tallinn, he led the Russian anthroposophical group of the Anthroposophical Society of Estonia (alongside Estonian and German groups), and from 1932 to 1934, he held the position of General Secretary of the Anthroposophical Society of Estonia. In 1937, Tomberg left Tallinn, lived in the Netherlands for some time, and then moved to England, where he passed away in the early 1970s. "Anthroposophical Considerations of the Old Testament" were published between 1933-35. This book is part of a monumental work dedicated to the study of the Bible from the perspective of spiritual science, which also includes "Anthroposophical Considerations of the New Testament" and "Anthroposophical Considerations of the Apocalypse."
