Until now, the work of S.A. Yesenin has been analyzed according to the standard scheme: the writer’s creative laboratory, the features of the author’s poetics, the search for prototypes of characters, the original sources of the plots, the original textology. In this monograph, a completely new approach is presented for the first time: the very figure of the poet in her life and creative manifestations is being studied. The image of the poet is considered as a plot -forming factor, as a founder and "legislator" of the character system. It turns out that Yesenin turned out to be a "cult figure" and became subject to the process of folklorization, and many of his works served as the source material for folklore alterations and stylizations.
For the first time, the point of view is proposed: Yesenin and his works in the light of anthropological theory in relation to literary criticism. The innovative problem is thoroughly and in detail: the phenomenon of man as the basis of the literary plan and the main postulate of the philosophy of creativity. The task is solved with the involvement of not only many published and archival data, but also numerous folklore-ethnographic and historical and cultural texts, personally collected by the researcher during perennial field expeditions to the Ryazan region, including the "Small Homeland" S.A. Yesenin
