The Anthology invites the reader to explore Jewish philosophy of the Modern and Contemporary periods as a historical and systematic whole. All sixteen authors featured in the book combined deep knowledge of traditional Jewish scholarship with outstanding roles in world philosophy. Their secondary activities are well known to the general public. However, without considering the second, Jewish dimension of their thinking, the creativity of these authors is not fully understood. The same can be said about the place of these philosophers in the history of Jewish thought, which is completely unclear without considering their role in world philosophy. The Anthology not only contains important fragments of Jewish philosophers' works, many of which are being published in Russian for the first time, but also provides keys to understanding them. The texts of each author are preceded by introductory articles that provide an overview of their philosophy and information about the history of their research and reception in world culture. The general introduction outlines the history of Jewish philosophy from the 17th century to the present day and formulates the criteria for including authors and their texts in the Anthology.
