The basis of the book of selected works by the great Russian poet Sergei Yesenin (1895-1925) was the 'Collected Works in 3 volumes', which he compiled himself in 1925, and which he was never destined to see published. The included poems 'Pugachev', 'Anna Snegina', 'The Tale of the Great Campaign', 'Poem about 36', 'The Land of Scoundrels' and 'The Black Man' are the pinnacle of the poetic creativity of the 'singer of the Russian village', without which the history of Russian poetry of the 20th century cannot be imagined. However, Sergei Yesenin's creative legacy is not limited to poetry alone, as he also made successful attempts in prose. The included works in the book 'Yar', 'By the White Water', 'Bobyl and Druzhok' and 'Iron Mirgorod' show the potential that the author could have further utilized if he had not been destined to 'go down in history' as a result of the tragedy in 'Anglettere'.
