The publishing house "Vezdets" has released a new book - an album, a photo novel based on Sergei Solovyov's film "Anna Karenina". The book features photographs taken during the filming of the movie "Anna Karenina", accompanied by excerpts from the text of the novel itself. To describe the value of these photographs and the idea of publishing the album, one should start with the last chapter, where the director writes about what prompted him to take on the filming of the movie, who worked with him, and how the film crew recreated the material world of that time. "...In search of an answer, we turned to the miraculously preserved Tolstoyan realities - primarily his ancestral nest, Krasnaya Polyana, and the Hamovnichesky house he bought in Moscow. Thus, the contours of the original natural picture began to emerge - which, essentially, is our still unblemished authentic country. They say it has already irretrievably disappeared, but if taken seriously, it may still exist. ...The film crew of our movie, I believe, managed to find several places and a great multitude of objects in Moscow and St. Petersburg that once formed this world of our spiritual home. ...The places where we worked, we hardly built or created anew, strangely enough, but almost all of them still somehow exist. They were simply found by us. ...All these pieces, fragments of the brilliant and vanished world had to be found by someone, ...put in order... And if we managed to do this at least partially, then in principle, it can be done in other forms. And even on a global scale. Well, let's say, on the scale of our entire vast country..." The film featured Russian actors of the old school - Oleg Yankovsky (A.A. Karenin), Alexander Abdulov (Stiva Oblonsky), Lyudmila Maksakova (Countess Lydia Ivanovna), Ekaterina Vasilyeva (Vronsky's mother), and the main artist of the film - Alexander Timofeevich Borisov - was also the main artist of the previous film based on the novel "Anna Karenina" by director Alexander Zarkhi with Tatiana Samoilova in the lead role. In the movie and in the photographs of the album, the "artistic brilliance of the vanished Russian world" (S. Solovyov) is recreated - the eyes perceive everything captured as historical evidence, and since this is a book, we can contemplate the pictures leisurely, return to them again, immersing ourselves in the world of the "authentic and eternal homeland" (S. Solovyov).
