Ernest Seton-Thompson (1860-1946) was born in England. Six years later, he moved to Canada with his family. From a young age, the boy was interested in nature and animals; he often went into the forest - studying birds, animals, making sketches from nature. Later on, Ernest became not only a writer but also an artist. This book presents the author's drawings. They are distinguished by their accuracy and expressiveness; they beautifully convey the appearance of the animals, their character, and mood. The attractive images of animal heroes include a brave rabbit with stars on its ears named Jack - the Battle Bunny, who escaped from greyhounds 13 times, a freedom-loving wild horse, a stray cat that ran away from silk pillows to its native place, a timid but sweet bear cub Johnny, a wild mustang pacer, and others.
The book includes the writer's most famous works in the classic translation by Nikolai Chukovsky.
For middle school age.
