The literary fame of Andrey Georgievich Bitov (1937-2018) was never loud, but it is hard to imagine contemporary Russian literature without his novels "Pushkin House," "Man in a Landscape," and "The Flying Monakhov." Bitov passed away recently, and this book is essentially the first biography of him. Moreover, it is unusual - its author, prose writer and documentary filmmaker Maxim Gureev, constructs his narrative as a screenplay for an unfilmed film by Bitov, incorporating quotes from the writer's works, memories of him, voices of contemporaries, painting a vivid and multifaceted portrait of the memorable master of words.
