For the first time in domestic historiography, a scientific biography of the seventh President of the United States, Andrew Jackson (1765-1845), is presented. It is based on a wide range of original sources. President Jackson is a figure who is largely controversial and contradictory. He entered American history as the savior of the unity of the states during a period of acute crisis when South Carolina was ready to secede. His unwavering motto was: "The Union must be preserved." Jackson became famous for his brilliant victory over the British at New Orleans during the War of 1812-1815. The United States owes the annexation of East Florida to him. Jackson contributed to the creation of the modern Democratic Party, the expansion of the boundaries of political democracy, which gave impetus to the "era of reforms." Thanks to him, phenomena such as the "spoils system" of distributing government positions based on party principles ("to the victor belong the spoils"), the "kitchen cabinet," "gray eminences," speechwriters, patronage, and rotation of personnel became entrenched in US politics. He lived a long, bright life full of the most unusual events. Orphaned at the age of 14, he managed to achieve everything in life through his own efforts. He was a warrior, lawyer, politician, planter, congressman, senator, governor, and president. After an unsuccessful duel, he was shot with a bullet that lodged near his heart, and he carried it in his body for the rest of his life. In his "Indian policy," he sought the "removal" of all Indian tribes beyond the Mississippi, leading to their mass destruction. He gave a name to an entire era in American history - the "Jacksonian Era," causing historians to still debate his personality and activities. It is no coincidence that the "Black Lives Matter" (BLM) movement advocates for the removal of his monument in the American capital, located opposite the White House, and the Democratic government is discussing replacing his portrait on the $20 bill. The book is intended for humanities scholars of a broad profile, for those studying US history, and for anyone interested in history.
