In the book, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Education, Evgeny Yamburg refers to the experience of outstanding figures in Russian and world pedagogy: J. Korczak, A. S. Makarenko, N. I. Pirogov, K. D. Ushinsky, S. I. Gessen. These individuals, who lived in different historical epochs, had to overcome resistance from the surrounding environment during their work, whether it was a totalitarian state or the intricacies of the bureaucratic apparatus. However, despite this, the living pedagogy they created, like a tree breaking through asphalt, found its way to the minds and souls of modern continuers of their work through all obstacles. After all, to this day, we rely on the ideas and discoveries of past educators. According to the author, the ultimate goal of the book is to "instill optimism in all those who do not fear stepping onto new uncharted paths of knowledge."
