Godfrey Higgins (1772-1833), an English historian of religion, archaeologist, anthropological interpreter, belongs to that direction of European thought which aspired to a certain universalism, in connection with this, he himself tried to find common origins and points of intersection of world religions. 'Anacalypsis' - the last and most extensive two-volume work of Higgins. Some of the researcher's views had an influence on the subsequent development of the study of religion. However, a number of his arguments, concerning the derivation of the Bible and Christianity from ancient Indian beliefs, appear controversial and are not confirmed by further scientific research.
Along with this, 'Anacalypsis' as the main component of Higgins's legacy provides the modern reader, discovering this unique author for themselves, the opportunity to delve into the study of the greatest mystery of the origin of God, religions, and man.
The present edition consists of two parts and repeats the structure of the English-language edition of 'Anacalypsis' from 1927.
