1995. Sixteen-year-old Tessa Cartright was found barely alive in a blooming field of amber rudbeckias, in a mass grave where a serial killer hid the bodies of his victims. It was her testimony that helped put a man named Terrell Darcy Goodwin behind bars and sentenced to death. 2004. Just a month before Goodwin's sentence is to be carried out, unknown rudbeckias appear outside Tessa's window. Who could have done this? A copycat of Goodwin? Or perhaps, many years ago, a girl tormented by the horrors she endured, unable to think clearly, condemned an innocent man to death, and the real killer remained free?
