The dictionary is a scientific publication in which the phenomenon of amateur creativity is considered from various parties: artistic, historical and cultural, social, political, psychological, functional. The circle of phenomena presented in the dictionary is expanded by attracting the material of the last decade of the XX - the beginning of the XXI century.
The dictionary contains generalizing articles in which the analysis of the development of individual types of art (music, theater, visual arts, decorative and applied art, photography, cinema, pantomime, choreography, circus), concepts and terms, main genres and institutions, Creative teams and main personalities of the domestic lovers of the past century are presented.
Articles are written on the basis of archival materials, information from the periodicals, personal contacts and memories of the researchers themselves, many of which were participants and witnesses of the peripetia of the development of lover in Russia
