Contemporaries called Marcus Aurelius a righteous man on the throne, like no other before him. The emperor was filled with the deepest love for people, humility, kindness, and generosity. This is how the book of reflections "Meditations" was born, which he wrote throughout his life. It is the story of his soul: reflections, individual thoughts, advice to descendants. An attempt to understand oneself, the essence of human life. To this day, the themes of good and evil, the meaning of existence and the inevitability of death, human behavior and relationships touched upon in the book remain relevant, and the reader's interest in this literary monument of Ancient Rome remains unchanged.
