"The History of Spain" is an outstanding monument of medieval historiography, one of the first Western European chronicles written in colloquial (medieval Castilian) language. "The History of Spain" was compiled under the guidance of King Alfonso X the Wise of Castile and Leon (1252 - 1284) and covers the period from the settlement of Spain by the legendary Hercules to the middle of the 13th century. The third volume includes the concluding chapters of the chronicle (802 - 1135), narrating events starting from the mid-11th century. They cover the time from the beginning of the reign of King Fernando of Castile and Leon (1037 - 1065) to the death of Fernando III the Saint (1217 - 1252), the father of the Wise King, who appears in the final chapters of the monument. The book is addressed to medieval scholars, specialists in the history and culture of Spain, students, and all those interested in the history of Western European Middle Ages. Compiled by Aurov O. V.
