The book presents biographical notes about the national hero of Russia, the famous Soviet pilot and prominent public figure Alexei Petrovich Maresyev (1916 - 2001) His fate was still a legend during his lifetime: the book “The Tale of a Real Man” was written about him, the film of the same name was shot, and the opera was put to the music of Sergei Prokofiev. The incredible power of will and love for the homeland allowed a simple guy from the Volga city of Kamyshin to accomplish, seemingly impossible exploits. But the real life of Alexei Maresyev was more interesting and dramatic than literary history. Maresyev’s life path would not have developed without the participation of many people - from ordinary peasants from the Valdai village to generals and marshals who supported the pilot in his desire for a goal. This book also talks about these people.
The book is illustrated by photographs taken at different times - from the first years of Soviet power to the beginning of the 21st century. It will be useful to young people looking for life guidelines. All readers who are interested in the history of Russia, military history and aviation history will find in it curious facts, which school textbooks are usually silent about
