The name of the aircraft designer Igor Sikorsky is widely known to all history enthusiasts. This book is unique. Sikorsky finished it while in emigration, but for many years the manuscript gathered dust in obscurity in one of the Parisian archives. Only in the nineties was it discovered and published by a New York immigrant publishing house. Now we present it to the readers. In this book, I. Sikorsky shares his thoughts: briefly analyzes the history of aviation development, recalls his first steps in the field of designing heavier-than-air flying machines, and predicts how, in his opinion, aviation will develop. Of particular interest is the comparison of his predictions with how the path to the sky was actually paved.
