Alexander Romanovich Belyaev (1884-1942) was a classic of Russian science fiction, combining adventurous plot with anticipation of scientific discoveries.
The novel "Air Seller" tells the story of the confrontation between meteorologist Klimenko and the profit-seeking merchant Bailey, who has learned to liquefy air from the atmosphere. Thus, air becomes a commodity, and the climate on Earth changes, causing a severe shortage of air for people.
The book also includes the novella "The Last Man from Atlantis".
