The new volume of the collection of works by James Willard Schulz (1859-1947) continues to publish a series of stories dedicated to the adventures of the old friend of the writer, the pioneer of the distant West, trapery and Mehotorgist Hugh Monroe (rising wolf) and his friends, both white and Indian.
In these stories, the rising wolf acts not so much as the main character, but as a storyteller or comrade of the main characters. He takes a distant winter journey to the “peoples of earthen houses”, opens the extraordinary story of the Indian, who saved the famous research expedition of Lewis and Clark, participates in the rivalry of trading companies on the upper Missouri. Together with Monroe, the reader witnesses the fights of warriors of hostile tribes, recognizes the amazing features of hunting bison, is present at the sacred ceremonies of the Indians of the Great Plains, gets acquainted with the strange customs of the steppe tribes.
Two of the stories included in the book are published in Russian for the first time. The book also contains documentary applications dedicated to the biography of Sakajave and the history of the Missouri Missouri. During the design, illustrations were used, the author of which is the son of a writer. Lone wolf (Hart Merriam Schulz), a famous artist and sculptor
