Henry Toro, an American writer, an “inspector of storm and snow storms”, at twenty -eight years retired from society and, having built himself a house in the forest on the shores of the Waldensky pond, settled in it for two years. So there was one of the most amazing books in the history of literature - "Walden, or life in the forest." Toro"s story about two years spent alone with nature has become a classic of American literature. His life at Lake Toro sought to show contemporaries with their cult of material prosperity, that you can live happily and happily outside society, satisfying all natural needs with their own labor. He contrasted the freedom from material concerns, solitude, self -sufficiency, contemplation and proximity to nature
