Walden, or life in the forest

In 1857, Toro “retired from the world” and spent two years in his own built hut on the shores of Pond Walden. The result of his voluntary recluse was the book of 18 interconnected heads of the Walden, or life in the forest, which still continues to have a huge impact on the widest circles of youth, adhering to non-conformist beliefs.
“Conscious consumption” , the denial of the cult of material prosperity, love and careful attitude to nature are just a few of the ideas that modern society has gleaned from Toro"s book. From the first book of Western culture, in which simplicity and self -sufficiency, intellectual improvement and proximity to nature are openly offered as a worthy alternative to the Society of Consumption
