The novel “Voronya Road” - the most Scottish of all the works of Banks - is very multifaceted: this is a family saga, and the traditional “Romance of growing up”, and a detective.
The story of the entry into adult life of the young man Pontis is unfolding in front of the reader - a story in which he has to survive the happiness and flour of his first love, to know a real grief and even conduct a deadly investigation of a mysterious crime.
However, Banks would not be himself, he would not turn the “crow"s road” into a strong and spicy literary cocktail, in which psychological realism is most naturally combined with sophisticated modernism
