The novel "Fair of vanity" is the pinnacle of socio -prophetic literature of the XIX century. Parodying and ridicuating the customs of bourgeois society, where the higher position is occupied by people in-willed, grabbed, Thackerasey admits that Laughter has undoubtedly created to combat such people and for their denunciation! The author calls his work "Roman without a hero", in the "Fair of vanity" there are no unequivocally positive and negative characters, the reader himself is his opinion about each of them.
The artist Grigory Filippovsky is a master of graphic image, in his illustrations the main place is occupied by the character of the hero, finely seized by several clear strokes
