In the novel “Uncle Kosi Kos”, American writer Gene Webster, the main character-a young girl, a pupil of a shelter, in letters to a guardian she talks about her life, dreams, sorrows and joys, friendship and love. The writer transferred a lot of her life to the pages of the book. The text of the repeatedly filmed novel Dan is translated by Elena Belyakova. The book is decorated with the funny drawings of the writer herself, as well as the illustrations of the American artist John Rin Nill, who made out the first books of Frank Baaum about the magical country of Lake, Wesin Webster lived a short but bright life. The future writer was born in 1876 in the small American town of Fredonia. In the first years of the most important years for any child, women with very progressive social attitudes surrounded the girl. Grandmother Jin fought for the rights of blacks and for granting suffrage to women, and the great -grandmother was a champion of sobriety. Annie, the girl’s mother, often discussed literary novelties with her husband Charles, who was engaged in the publication of the works of Mark Twain, Annie was with him in a distant relationship. For several years, all members of this family lived under the same roof. Since the father’s affairs at first went well, he moved with his wife and daughter to New York, getting a summer house on Long Island. In front of Gene, the American Dream came true. It is not surprising that many heroines invented by her later occupied a very active independent position in life and were distinguished by modern outlooks on life. In 1897, Jin began to visit the first higher educational institution for women - a college founded in 1861 by Matthew Vassar. In it, special attention was paid to literature, economics and sociology. New life impressions were so bright that Jin decided to record them. Her literary tests were small articles and poems that were printed in student magazines. In 1901, the first book of Webster was published - Patti in College. After that, Jin with enviable regularity released almost every year, but real success came to it only in 1912. After the publication of her novel about Judy Abbot, the modern Cinderella, the pupil of the orphanage, and her mysterious lanky, whose image merged in The head of the main character with the idea of the spider hayfield. The last work of Webster, which died in 1916 from the postpartum sepsis, was the novel Dear Enemy
