"Titan" is the second part of the famous “trilogy of the desire” of Theodore Dreiser, which is based on the life story of the American millionaire C. Yerks, who played a significant role in the development of a public transport system in Chicago and the London Metro. Caucerwood, having left the Philadelphia prison and committing a number of successful speculations during the stock panic, which allowed him to become a millionaire, decides to continue activities in Chicago. The novel describes the events in the life of the protagonist after the Philadelphia period ("financier") and precedes the final part - the novel "Stoik".
