Frank Herbert (1920–1986) is an American science fiction writer, known around the world as the author of the famous fantastic saga "Chronicle of the Dune". However, the author’s creative heritage is not limited to this famous epic. His novel "Sacrificial Star" can argue with the "Solaris" Lema in terms of originality of the idea and philosophical depths. Not to mention the fact that this is simply a very entertaining science fiction, in which there is a detailed and tasty spelled out world of the distant future, interstellar flights and the exciting adventures of an agent of the Galactic intelligence services.
Can a star be a reasonable creature? And can a person establish contact with the bearer of such an alien other mind? Especially - when is the score literally for days? Indeed, in the case of failure, this rational star, in fulfillment of a kind of mysterious agreement, will voluntarily accept a painful death - death, which in turn will entail catastrophic consequences for the entire universe?
