The free prose reconstruction of the medieval poem about the tragic love of the Knight of Tristan for Isolde, the wife of King Cornwall, and the conflict between feeling and feudal fidelity. A novel about love, which is stronger than death. Thirteen centuries ago, this story turned into a beautiful legend, the storytellers changed, but one thing remained unchanged - the love that combined the Queen from the distant northern island and the first warrior of Scotland. The myth of Tristan and Isolde is a narrative about the eternal return of Tristan and about the bitter happiness of Isolda, about the generosity and cruelty of King Mark. For many years, the French philologist Joseph Bedier (1864-1938) has been looking for and investigated texts related to the legend of Tristan and Isolde, and on the basis of a number of ancient texts, he reconstructed a possible prototype-the French prose knightly novel of the middle of the XII century, the source of all subsequent recycling. The fact that the legend is known to this day, we owe not only the Celts of the VII century, but also Joseph Bede. The plot of the novel influenced modern culture - from the paintings of the pre -Raphaelites, the opera Richard Wagner and before the works of Salvador Dali.

The novel is published in the classic translation of A. A. Veselovsky and is fully designed by the artist D. Gordeev
