“Life of David Copperfield” is one of the most famous educational novels in the world. This is partly the autobiography of Charles Dickens, who, like the main character, had to endure a lot of tests in childhood. Young Copperfield was orphaned early and ended up in the slums of London, which, however, did not prevent him from preserving good disposition and faithful friends. After a variety of vital and downs, the hero finds a family and becomes a writer. Leo Tolstoy highly appreciated the novel, first of all, for compassion for the author to destitute.
Grigory Filippovsky in his illustrations preserves both the Dickensian satire and his good humor. He depicts the characters of unpleasant with ironic strokes, and in the images of the main characters created by the artist, tenderness and depth are read
