Roman Charles Dickens about the noble, but poor young man Nicholas Nicklby began to be created by the author while working on another work - Oliver Twist. It is not surprising that these novels have much in common: Nicholas, like Oliver, is forced to see the unsightly wrong side of life, but with honor he overcomes all the difficulties, remaining the same kind and honest. Many appreciate the novel about Oliver Twista for acute social satire, but in the story of Nicholas Nicklby we see bright portraits of different representatives of British society, which gave a reason to some critics to say that the secondary characters of Nicholas Niklby are much more interesting than the main ones. Is there a share of truth in this - to judge readers, but one of the characters - Squirs - is indeed remembered, and his surname became for the British a nounced designation of an unworthy school teacher.
