George Bernard Show for English literature of the twentieth century became the same as Shakespeare was for the age of XVII. He compared himself only with Shakespeare. The main features of Bernard show were observation, paradoxes, passion. In plays and preface, in novels, stories, articles and letters, he made diagnoses for more than half a century, gave advice, prescribed recipes. Glorified during his lifetime, the show was not shy of his greatness - we can say that he used it mercilessly. Not always reasonable, but always spectacular. The British writer and journalist Nigel Rice, not the last witting himself, had enough reason to advise us all: In all doubtful cases, a successful phrase should be attributed to George Bernard show.
This year it takes seventy years since the day when the show was quarreling for the last time. But we know: the show must go on!
