One of the greatest novels of the twentieth century. The book that brought it to the author of the Pulitzer Prize for 1997. “The Times” included “Angel’s ashes” in the list of the best books written during the period 1949 - 2009, along with the works of Orwell, Salinger, Marquez, Golding. The novel was translated into 17 languages, became a bestseller in several dozen countries and formed the scenario of the cinema -masterpiece Alan Parker of the same name.
The poverty drove the Irish through the ocean to America - and poverty drove them back during the great depression.
Many of many became the McCort family, who returned to Limerick in 1934.
And then real hell began for them ...
