1888. East London is a city in the city. The place of shadows and light, a place where thieves and whores are adjacent to dreamers, where children play cobblestone bridges during the day, and at night a killer is sneaked on them, where bright hopes are faced with gloomy reality. Here, under the whisper of the waves of Thames, Fiona Finnegan, an employee of the tea factory, dreams once to open her store with Joe Brastow, the son of a market merchant, whom she knows and loves since childhood. Feelled by faith in each other, Fiona and Joe lead a everyday battle with life, save on everything and suffer hardships, and all in the name of realizing their dreams.
But the familiar life of Fiona scatters to smithereens, when the actions of a dark and cruel person take away almost everyone and everyone whom she loved and who served her support. Fearing for her life, Fiona is forced to escape from London to New York. There, thanks to perseverance and indomitable spirit, she rises from the mistress of a modest store in West Side to the owner of a prosperous tea company. But the ghosts of the past do not give her rest, and in order to deal with them, Fiona returns to London. A deadly battle with her past becomes the key to her future
